Job Summary
The Pharmacy Oncology Technician is responsible for IV compounding and inventory management in the oncology pharmacy. The position is responsible for maintaining and complying with USP 797 standards for sterile compounding and USP 800 standards for handling hazardous medications.Monument Health offers competitive wages and benefits on qualifying positions. Job Description
Essential Functions
- Comply with USP <797> standards for compounding sterile products.
- Comply with USP <800> standards for handling hazardous medications.
- Assists pharmacists in the preparation and distribution of medications.
- Demonstrates proficiency in operating health-system and pharmacy computer systems and equipment.
- Perform quality, timely customer service to the population served.
- Participate in pharmacy inventory management.
- Must perform most essential functions of the IV Pharmacy Technician.
- Perform duties related to the ordering, receiving, storing, preparing, compounding, dispensing and distribution of medications.
- Support aspects of investigational drug management, including inventory management, recordkeeping, and preparation.
- Participates in quality improvement projects.
- Acts as a mentor to enforce proper procedures.
- All other duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements
Required:
Education - High School Diploma/GED Equivalent
Certification - Technician Registration - South Dakota Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of hire; Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) OR Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) - National Healthcare Association (NHA)
Preferred:
Experience - 3+ years of Sterile Processing Experience
Physical Requirements:Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
